Ayanna’s passion for psychiatry is rooted in both clinical excellence and lived understanding. She recognizes that in many minority communities, mental health concerns have long been misunderstood, minimized, or stigmatized. Cultural expectations to “be strong,” keep struggles private, or push through emotional pain often prevent individuals from seeking the care they deserve.
For many minorities, seeking mental health treatment can feel abnormal—as if asking for help means weakness, failure, or deviation from cultural norms. At Pellucid Psychiatry, we reframe that narrative. Sometimes, what feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar is not a sign that something is wrong—but rather a sign that growth, healing, and transformation are beginning.
Ayanna believes that breaking generational cycles of silence starts with safe, affirming spaces where patients feel seen, heard, and respected without needing to explain or defend their experiences. Her work is centered on breaking barriers, normalizing mental health care in minority communities, and helping patients reclaim clarity and confidence in their emotional well-being.
